Surrey Scouts Appoints New Deputy County Youth Commissioners

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Carter Coles, Kewin Kobylski and Daniel Thorpe as Deputy County Youth Commissioners for Surrey Scouts. Congratulations on their new roles!

They will be working together as part of the County Youth Team, alongside Marcus, our County Youth Commissioner and our District Youth Commissioners, to bring a youth perspective to the different functions of the county and champion the voice of our 14,000 young people, ensuring they have a meaningful part in planning, implementing and reviewing their programme and opportunities.

Let’s hear from them what they are looking forward to in their new roles:

Carter ColesAs a county youth team, we have a great opportunity to bring fresh perspectives and ideas, putting young people at the heart of Surrey scouting. I am proud to be part of this, and I’m looking forward to supporting and engaging with young people across the county as we move forward.

Kewin KobylskiI’m looking forward to taking on this new role and challenge, giving back all that I gained in my journey as a Scout, and improving what we do for the benefit of young people by focusing on them and making sure they have an active part in maintaining Scouts’ youth.

Daniel ThorpeI’m super excited to join the Surrey youth team! I’ve been in Scouting since I was 6, and it’s been a fantastic journey through Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers. I’ve earned the Chief Scout Awards and loved every moment. As a Young Leader and Assistant Scout Leader, I’ve enjoyed helping others and making Scouting fun. I also have some great experiences, like shooting in junior international competitions and camping every month since early 2023, which helped me complete the Dragon Award. Currently, I’m working towards my King Scout Award. I can’t wait to meet you all and help young people across Surrey.
