Who we are

This is the website of Surrey County Scout Council (Surrey Scouts) which is a charity registered in England (Charity Number 305819). Surrey Scouts is the administrative division of the Scout Association (the Scouts) in the United Kingdom responsible for providing programmes and support to the members of the Scout Association in the County of Surrey which is made up of 18 districts and 176 Scout Groups at the last count!

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Contact forms

We provide several ways for you to contact us. If you use any of these methods will may store the information you provide. None of this information is retained on the website and contact forms will result in an email being sent to our County Office. This information is not transferred securely therefore we recommend you do not provide any personal information.

We may share the information you have provided between officers and volunteers of Surrey Scouts and if required to officers and volunteers of our Scout Districts and their Scout Groups.

We will not add your details to any of our mailing lists or share your information with any third parties without your consent unless there is a legal reason for us to do so.

Cookies

Cookies are small files that a website transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser (if you allow) that enables the software to recognise your browser and capture and remember certain information.

·         On a temporary (session) basis to identify each user uniquely and provide data between pages.

How long we retain your data

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Any information sent to us via any contact methods and our contact us form will be retained for the period required to deal with that matter.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

If you have contacted us by any other method including our contact us form, you may contact us and request information that we hold about you. A charge may be requested to handle such a request.

Who on our team has access

Members of our team have access to the information you provide us. For example, both Administrators and Shop Managers can access:

  • Order information like what was purchased, when it was purchased and where it should be sent, and
  • Customer information like your name, email address, and billing and shipping information.

Our team members have access to this information to help fulfill orders, process refunds and support you.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
