Looking to apply for a Nights Away Permit?

This course delivers the skills needed to help you achieve your Nights Away Permit and for anyone else who wishes to increase their knowledge
The course consists of a series of 6 online sessions leading to one practical residential weekend course

Module 38 – Residential Weekends (you only need to complete one of these plus the relevant catering session plus one of each of the Zoom sessions):

• M38-2-25 – 4th/5th October 2025 – (n.b the Catering Session on 6th September 2025 must also be booked) Closing date 4th September 2025
• Catering & Preparation for the Residential Weekend– 6th September 2025 – this date must be attended if you are booking the October 2025 course

Additional dates will be added throughout  2025 for the online sessions so don’t forget to check back on the booking pages or click on the links below

The online sessions are as follows and form part of the course:

• Introduction to the Residential Weekend – (for anyone booked or considering booking one of the residential weekends in 2025) Monday 1st Sept, 8th Sept 2025
• Choosing & Maintaining Equipment – Wednesday 3rd September
• Staffing –  TBA
• Wellbeing, Health & Safety – Thursday 11th September 
• Admin & Finance – Thursday 4th September
• Preparation for the residential weekend – Zoom session to meet your team and plan your weekend requirements – by arrangement with your team and tutor
• The above sessions are also suitable for anyone wishing to update their knowledge or are thinking about joining a residential course

Additional Camping Skills Workshops – 2-3 hour sessions for those wishing to learn new skills and increase their knowledge.  Book here please
Saturday 18th October a.m.- Tarps, Tents and Shelters – Looking at a variety of tents and shelters
Saturday 18th October p.m. – Camp Gadgets – simple gadgets to use at camp
Sunday 19th October a.m. – Backwoods Cooking – cooking backwoods style on wood fires
Sunday 19th October p.m. –  Knife, Axe and Saw – safe use of knives, axes and saws at camp

Module 16 – Introduction to Residential Experiences 
This 2 1/2  hour workshop covers the requirements for adults who need  this Module as part of their Wood Badge. (It is not intended for anyone applying for a Nights Away Permit)
