Daniel becomes Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet

Daniel Booker, Explorer Scout from the 7th Epsom, was commissioned as a Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for 2024/25 at the Military Awards evening at Sandhurst on 15th October 2024.  He  takes over the role from James Richardson (1st Normandy).  Coincidentally,  Jack Neame, Regimental Sergeant Major CCF,  far right in the picture of the new LL Cadets standing, is also an Explorer Scout with Farnham District and was on the activities team at Scoutabout.

The citation for Daniel’s appointment was:

Daniel joined Scouting some 10 years ago and having been a Beaver, Cub and Scout, is currently an Explorer Scout with the 7th Epsom Scout Group.

He holds the Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze and Silver awards and Scout achievement awards in various fields including Hiking, Camping, First Aid, Water and Air activities.  A participant in his Unit’s recent expedition involved climbing 9 mountains in Wales including Snowdon,  he is also enthusiastic about kayaking following earning his kayak qualification last autumn. 

A pupil at Sutton Grammar School, he has played hockey for Epsom hockey club for the last four years and has been a practitioner of the martial art of Kung Fu for the last 8 years.  He is now at adult Grade 4 and also teaches Kung Fu to young people.

Having been shortlisted from a large field of nominees, Daniel excelled in a very strong field on the selection day where the panel recommended him as exceptionally polite, mature and confident and an outstanding nominee to represent Surrey Youth and Scouting as a Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet.
