Woking Cub Science Day 2019

Date: 5th Feb 2019 Author: Alistair Tickett

100 Cubs, 10 science bases, loads of adults made Woking’s Science day awesome.

Scouting science, living and physical science formed the themes for the bases.

Pin jointed structures, pulleys and leavers are the science of pioneering. Energy in foods for emergency rations when hill walking. Are Scouting science.

Dead spiders and flies went under the microscope to check their hairy legs.

Tongues turned purple by eating red cabbage, then the colour change checked. Pink for acid and blue for alkaline.

Bicarb bombs used to investigate chemical reactions.

There were other demonstrations to amaze the Cubs. Air vortices made with fart gas fired at unsuspecting leaders, exploding cans and gravity defying gyroscopes.
