The Mountains Were Calling

KIX 2018 – what can we say?

Surrey Scouts have just undertaken their largest international expedition as a Scout county.  500 Scouts and leaders travelled to the Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland for a week of incredible activities.

The Scouts faced  a range of challenges including hiking in the mountains at higher and lower levels, rafting on the river Aare, visiting cheese and chocolate factories as well as participating in the activities on site such as joining in the large Kandersteg camp fire.

Every day brought a new experience and a new view as the Scouts climbed high in to the mountains at Gällinhorn or slide down the toboggan run at Oeschinensee.  The Scouts also had time to wander in Kandersteg itself.

The Scouts were an amazing bunch – even though they came from across the whole of the county, they worked really well together and made friendships easily.

KIX 2022 – the mountains will call again!”

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
