1st Normandy Beavers’ Big Adventure!

Date: 28th Nov 2021 Author: Alistair Tickett

Over the weekend of 20th and 21st November, 19 Beaver Scouts from 1st Normandy Scout group came to the Scout hut in Normandy for a sleepover – the first one since June 2019.

The Beaver Scouts headed into the woods to search for a number of hidden animals and then followed the clues to find the buried treasure. The evening meal was a feast of mashed potatoes, sausages, chicken legs and vegetables followed by a fruit salad and ice cream (the vegetables and fruit salad being prepared by the Beaver Scouts). Afterwards, the Beaver Scouts tested their coordination skills by beating open a giant piñata.

Tents were erected inside the Scout hut and the Beavers went outside to toast marshmallows on the campfire and to sing a number of songs. After a bed time story, all the Beavers Scouts settled into their sleeping bags and quickly feel asleep! In the morning, after a bacon bap, the Beavers tested their bravery plunging their hands into a gunge filled cauldron. Finally, the Beavers were awarded their sleepover certificates and Nights Away badges and it was time to go home.
