A practical, hands-on, two-day skills workshop open to all adults, in Scouting and Guiding, Managers, Leaders, Adult Supporters, plus Scout Network/Senior Section, (Leaders from non-Scouting/Guiding Youth Organisations are very welcome).

This workshop teaches fundamental and intermediate skills for Pioneering, commencing with Knots and Lashings, progressing onto how rope is made and care of rope, use of pickets, anchors and block’n’tackle.

Safety in Pioneering precedes practicing skills passed over by constructing small, intermediate, and major pioneering projects.

The skills passed over are designed to:

  • ‘Train-the-Trainer’ to teach the Cub Scout, Scout & Explorer Scout Pioneer Activity Badges.
  • provide an introduction to Pioneering suitable for Beaver Scouts via crafts and games.

No previous experience is required. For those wishing to upgrade skills there is plenty on offer – You will be guided by an experienced and enthusiastic team of Pioneers.
