Getting Started

Welcome to your new role in Surrey Scouts. You will probably need to complete some learning when you start, especially if you are new to Scouting.  The Getting Started Modules will give you important information to help you in your new role and should be completed within the first 5 months of your appointment

Module 1 – Essential Information

Essential Information is great training for all adults involved in Scouts as it provides information on Scouts history, our fundamentals such as the Promise and Law,  our structure and how Scouts are inclusive.

Safety:
The aim of this module is to provide all adults in Scouting with an understanding of safety practice and responsibilities as a member of Scouts, to keep everyone safe.

Safeguarding:
The aim of this module is to provide all adults in Scouting with an understanding of safeguarding practice and responsibilities as a member of Scouts, to keep everyone safe.

General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR):
This learning will give an understanding of what the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) means for you, your Scout Group, District and County and how to effectively align with it.

Trustee Introduction:
This module is aimed at Trustees/Executive Committee members and provides information on your role in managing a charity with information on your legal responsibilities and current regulations.

All the above are elearning modules and may be completed in any order.

Personal Learning Plan:
The aim of this module is to create a plan for an individual’s learning based on the requirements of the role and taking into account the individual’s needs.

Tools for the Role – Module 3:
This module is aimed at Section Leaders and Assistants and provides the basic information on the role or area of responsibility.

Tools for the Role – Modules 4:
This module is aimed at Managers & Supporters and covers the key information about their role, areas of responsibility and where they can find further information and support.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
