St Nicolas 9th Guildford Cycling Expedition

Date: 13th May 2018 Author: Scout Websites

Over the Bank Holiday weekend scouts from St Nicolas 9th Guildford joined a cycling expedition organised by Rotherfield District in Hampshire to Normandy (the French one). The expedition involved an overnight ferry to Caen and then three days of a cycling treasure hunt around the historic sites between Caen and Bayeaux culminating in a visit to the Pegasus Bridge Memorial museum before catching the ferry back to Portsmouth. Apart from the odd scrape everything went smoothly with everyone having a great time (especially the visit to the Compagnie des Glaces in Arromanches). The Rotherfield team did a superb job keeping us well fed and managed to ensure the weather was fantastic. The adults who attended had a great time with some of the hardcore cyclists going out in the evening for more exertion in the very peaceful Normandy countryside.
