Santa Runs for 1st Chertsey Scouts

Date: 1st Jan 2018 Author: Scout Websites

Over 130 runners were up early for the inaugural 1st Chertsey Scout Group Santa Fun Run, to raise funds for a much-needed new HQ.

Local gym, The Fitness Space, helped everyone warm up properly before heading off around 3km or 6km course on Chertsey Meads. The event was organised by the Group Parents Committee who got everyone dressed up in Father Christmas suits and provided hot drinks and mince pies at the finish line to reward those braving the frost.

Group Chairman Toby Athersuch (dressed as an elf) said, “It is great to see so many of the Young People from the Group here today, supported by their friends and family. I hope this becomes a regular fixture in our events calendar!”

The event raised around £1,000 for the new Scout Group HQ Appeal. Readers interested in donating to this can find details on the Group website: www.1stchertseyscoutgroup.com
