1st Normandy Space Camp!

Date: 21st May 2016 Author: Scout Websites
Sixteen 1st Normandy (Wednesday) Beaver Scouts, Four Adult Helpers and two leaders met at the Scout HQ in Normandy for a space themed Beaver Sleepover on the weekend of 21st to 22nd May.

The Beavers transformed themselves into spacemen making NASA badges, space helmets and identification cards before setting off on a mission of discovery, finding the eight planets of the solar system hidden in the surrounding woods.

Near full size rockets were made before the Beavers tested their bravery skills by putting their hands into the mouth of a captured alien from area 51, called ‘Dave’. After a typical spaceman’s supper of mashed potatoes, sausages, chicken drums sticks and vegetables followed by a fruit salad (the vegetables and fruit salad being prepared by the Beaver Scouts), the spacemen tested their coordination skills by beating open a rocket piñata.

The Beavers then erected tents in the Scout hut and were very eager to get into their sleeping bags. However, they weren’t so eager to go to sleep! In the morning, after a bacon bap, we all headed out to toast marshmallows on the campfire and to sing a number of loud songs, before sleepover certificates and nights away and space badges were awarded.
