What happens at Roverway?

The Path

During the first five days, participants will explore a self-chosen ‘path’ in locations such as Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim and Aalesund. Our UK patrols will join patrols from other countries to complete their chosen path.

Main Camp – (Jamboree Style Camp)

All the patrols join for a large camp near Stavanger. Stavanger is often called “the gateway to the fjords”, and its location on the west coast affords it access to some of Norway’s most iconic scenery.

Post Event

The final part of Roverway is the post-event, which sees the UK Contingent come together for a shared experience.

Participant Applications

Participants must be either Explorer or Network members, born between 1 August 2002 and 22 July 2008 (i.e. 16-22 at the time of Roverway)

Participants will be arranged in Patrols of 5-8.

Selection – Patrol Leaders / Assistant Patrol Leaders

Each Patrol must have a Patrol Leader and Assistant Patrol Leader born before  before 2 January 2006 (i.e. aged 18.5+ at the time of Roverway)

The selection of PLs/APLs will be facilitated by Surrey Scouts and may involve a short Zoom meeting.

Selection – other participants

The participants not selected as Patrol and Assistant Patrol leaders will be randomly selected by ballot.

The UK Contingent fee for UK-based participants is £1,999.

The fee includes travel from the UK, meals, travel in-country, the event cost, a post-event experience, return travel, and the kit package. It also funds our regional training events in Autumn 2023 and a training event for Patrol Leaders in 2024.
