Pioneering Training

Between: 25th September 2021 - 26th September 2021 Location: Bentley Copse Sections: Adult Volunteers Event Organiser: Colin Scarff

This course is open to all adults, in Scouting and Guiding, both those with little or no experience and those wishing to upgrade their Pioneering skills (Managers, Leaders, Adult Supporters plus Scout Network/Senior Section – Leaders from non-Scouting/Guiding Youth Organisations are very welcome).

Saturday, 25 September and Sunday, 26 September 2021

This two-day (non-residential) skills workshop teaches fundamental and intermediate skills for Pioneering, commencing with Knots and Lashings before progressing onto how rope is made and care of rope, use of pickets, anchors and block’n’tackle.

Safety in Pioneering precedes practicing skills passed over by constructing small pioneering projects. The workshop culminates on Sunday afternoon by putting all skills into practice constructing major pioneering projects.

The skills passed over meet the requirements to teach the Cub Scout, Scout & Explorer Scout Pioneer Activity Badges.

No previous experience is required. For those wishing to upgrade skills there is plenty on offer – You will be guided by an experienced and enthusiastic team of Pioneers.
