Module 38-1-25 – Nights Away Course – 22nd-23rd March 2025

This course delivers the skills needed to apply for a Nights Away Permit.  It is also suitable for adults who wish to support Nights Away events.
The course consists of a series of 6 online Zoom sessions (dates tba) leading to one practical residential weekend course.

This is the Spring course for 2025.  The course will be held at Bentley Copse and will be residential (camping in tents) and will be a practical, hands-on weekend. Skills covered will include:

  • Choosing a Venue
  • Site Layout
  • Pitching a variety of tents
  • Knife, Axe and Saw
  • Catering – 22nd February 2025
  • Wood Fires
  • Backwoods Cooking
  • Camp Gadgets
  • Toilets & Safe Drinking Water
  • Campfires
  • Programme Planning

  • Important: All the online sessions must be attended before attending one of the residential weekends – dates tba.  (The Zoom sessions already being held in 2024 and 2025 can also be attended)
  • The Catering Zoom session for the March 2025 residential weekend will take place 22nd February – this session is compulsory for anyone booking the March 2025 course
  • This course is free to Surrey Scouts Leaders. £30 for all others

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
