 Founder's Day Meeting
Founder's Day Meeting

On Wednesday 28th February the Cub Scouts of The Shere & Peaslake Scout Group joined the Cubs from the 1st Shalford Group, at the Shalford HQ for a joint Founder's Day Meeting. After Grand Howl and Flag Break, Kaa from 1st Shalford spend five to ten minutes talking about, Scouting at Group, District, County, National and International levels. Whilst doing this he showed a number of badges and scarfs, including Nation Scarfs from Serbia, & Belgium and Badges from a Scout Group in Mexico.

Hathi the Shalford CSL then took over and ran a game of Port & Starboard. Whilst this was going on the Very Special Guest of the evening Lord Baden-Powell arrived.

Lord Baden-Powell spoke to the Cubs for about thirty minutes, on his own time as a Cub Scout, his Grandfather and how Scouting came about. We then did a two way question and answer session, during which we found out that Lord Baden-Powell's favourite wide game was Kick the Can.

After this the Cubs aided by the Leaders and Lord Baden-Powell filled in a Scouting Word Seach.

At the end of the Meeting we had one Cub remake his Promise and issued him with a new scarf and badges, as he has transfered into the District, and then Lord Baden-Powell presented the Chief Scout's Silver Award to one of the 1st Shalford Cub Scouts.

The Leader Teams from both Packs would like to say 'Thank you again, Lord Baden-Powell for coming along to visit us and to talk to the Cubs, and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.'
