In 2019, 108 young people from Surrey will be joining over 45,000 other Scouts from 155 countries and territories at the 24th World Scout Jamboree in North America.
We would love for you to be part of this, please support us by becoming a Friend of the Jamboree. For a suggested donation of £17.50, you’ll receive an exclusive pin-badge, newsletters, a postcard from the Jamboree and an invitation to our presentation after the Jamboree.
Please support Surrey’s Scouts in our life changing journey by visiting the website below:
How do I donate to a specific Surrey Jamboree Unit?
If you wish to donate specifically to one of Surrey Sequoia, Surrey Griffins, or Surrey Stingrays, please select ‘Yes’ when you are asked ‘Are you donating to a specific Campaign or Appeal?’ and then choose the relevant Unit.
Otherwise, your donation will be split evenly between the three Units.
How do I record the Unit member who suggested I become a Friend?
Whilst all of the funds raised by Friends of the Jamboree are for the benefit of the whole Unit, the Young People will also be competing against each other to see who can sign-up the most Friends with some prizes to the most successful!
If you know a specific Young Person in one of the Units and want to link your Friendship to them, please select ‘Yes’ when you are asked ‘Would you like to add a Message’ and enter their full name.
Can I purchase the Unit Badges as well?
Yes! If you donate more than £22.50, you will receive all three of the Unit badges as well as your exclusive Friends of the Jamboree pin-badge.
Is my donation eligible for GiftAid?
Yes, Friends of the Jamboree is eligible for Gift Aid. If you are a UK taxpayer you may be able to increase the donation we receive by 25% at no extra cost to you. Please see the donation site for more details.
Can I become a Friend if I am outside the UK?
Yes, International Friends are equally welcome! However, we ask for a slightly higher donation to cover the higher cost of postage.
What will my donation be used for?
Every UK Scout who attends the Jamboree, whether participant or leader, pays a fee of £3,495 which covers the Jamboree fee, travel, food and some UK equipment and clothing. Some of this fee supports Scouts from poorer countries, to help them attend the Jamboree where they wouldn’t normally be able to. All of our participants will be working really hard to fundraise for their fee.
However, this fee does not cover the cost of all of the Surrey Jamboree Units’ preparation camps, such as accommodation, food and activities. The Units will also want to purchase additional equipment and clothing to make the experience even better for their Unit members.
Your generous donation will go a long way towards covering these costs, reducing the burden on the Unit members who already have to focus on fundraising for their Jamboree fee.
Can I donate more?
If you would like to donate more we would be incredibly grateful for your generosity. The donation website allows higher donations.
When will I receive my pin-badges or Unit Badges?
We expect these to be delivered in Autumn 2018, or within a month of your sign-up date if you register subsequently.
How are newsletters delivered?
In order to protect the environment and minimise our costs, all newsletters will be sent by e-mail to the address you use when registering. Your first newsletter will be sent immediately on receipt of payment.
Who can I contact if I have a problem?
