Well that was the day that was. Another successful Surrey County Beaver Fun Day.
1,500 Beaver Scouts and their Leaders braved the cloudless skies and made the intrepid journey to Cranleigh for what was going to be an unforgettable day.
Unknown to the Beaver Scouts we were expecting a very important visitor. At 10.00am the Chief Scout – Peter Duncan arrived. He toured the site and joined in the fun, talking to as many Beaver Scouts and Leaders as possible. He paned for gold won the hobby horse derby and even crossed a ravine on a monkey bridge! Judging from the photographs I think he had a very good visit.
Activities provided by the Districts ranged from – rope making, panning for gold, making badges, finding Pirate treasure, cooking marshmallows and mastered an assault course – only to be gunged at the end. The Beaver Scouts could even try their hand at Bell ringing.
A pirate ship, cup & saucer ride, bouncy bikes, punch & Judy and not forgetting ‘Trigger the Train’ were just some of the professional activities that were available for all to enjoy.
We celebrated our 20th Birthday with the cutting of a large Birthday Cake by six Beaver Scouts from across the County.
To make the day complete the Cranleigh Fireman discharged their water hoses over some very excited and wet Beaver Scouts. I feel sure that this was the highlight of the day!
I would like to thank the Bazzaz Team and all those who contributed to make this occasion the success it was.
