 International Scouting Minimize
Scouting is a growing, worldwide youth movement, which is voluntary, non-political, educational and open to all.

An aim of the United Kingdom Scout Association is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and INTERNATIONAL communities.

We all live, today, in an increasingly mobile and multi-cultural society, which demands a deeper appreciation and knowledge of our neighbours (geographically, culturally, economically and politically). So the aim of the International dimension of the Scout programme is to develop an awareness of the world and its people. Building International understanding is one of the cornerstones of the worldwide Scout movement.

 World Scout Jamborees Minimize

A World Scout Jamboree is a gathering of Scouts from around the world, for 12 days of adventurous activities, memorable events, and international friendship in a campsite big enough to accommodate tens of thousands of young people.  They are normally held every four years, and are hosted by a national Scout organisation.

The last jamboree, the 21st was hosted by the United Kingdom, in celebration of the Centenary of Scouting in 2007.  Its theme - “One World, One Promise” captured Scoutings aspirations and hopes for the future.40,000 young people camped, lived and worked alongside each other.  They came from a variety of different cultures, backgrounds, and religions.  Together they celebrated what unites them, and learnt what they can do together to help build a better world. The next Jamboree will be held in 2011 and will be hosted by the Swedish Scouts.
