 About Bentley Copse Campsite Minimize

Welcome to Bentley Copse!

Bentley Copse PictureThank you for considering Bentley Copse for your camp/activity. The site is very popular with youth organisations throughout the Southeast of England. We have some 16,000 camper nights per year, and welcome not only members of the Scout Association but also Guides, Duke of Edinburgh award groups, schools, youth clubs, Boys Brigade, Army cadets, etc.

Bentley Copse is situated in the heart of the beautiful Surrey countryside, 2½ miles south of the picturesque village of Shere. Adjacent to the site is Hurtwood, some 4,000 acres of mixed woodland. This area boasts numerous footpaths and bridleways, making it an ideal location for hiking, orienteering, wide games and nature study.

The site has two full time wardens and is open throughout the year except during the school Christmas holidays.

Shere village is situated off the A25 between Guildford and Dorking. Turn south in the centre of Shere towards Ewhurst, follow this road for 2½ miles. Bentley Copse is on the left hand side of a single track road and is clearly signposted. OS Map Reference: TQ 07454425 Suitable OS maps: Pathfinder 1226 Dorking TQ04/14 (1:25000) - strongly recommended Landranger 187 Dorking, Reigate & Crawley (1:50000).

Provisional booking should be made by telephone in order that your requirements can be discussed with the warden, suitable sites allocated and date agreed. A site visit is recommended, please arrange a mutually convenient time with the warden prior to your arrival. Alternatively you can make a provisional booking here.

Accommodation and activity charges are reviewed and published annually. Price lists and a booking form will be sent once a provisional booking has been made. Provisional bookings must be confirmed by completing and returning the booking form accompanied by the appropriate deposit within 14 days. A receipt and acknowledgement will be forwarded.

The warden reserves the right to change sites at short notice should unforeseen circumstances prevail - every attempt will be made to inform the leader-in-charge. To aid your programme planning and our staffing arrangements, on- site activities should be booked in advance.

Our booklet (you can download a full copy in PDF format from our document store ) has been designed to help with the planning of your camp/activity and to answer any questions you may have regarding the facilities at Bentley Copse.
