Helmsmen wanted to assist with Dinghy Sailing Courses

2007 saw 1st Walton-on-Thames (Viking) Sea Scouts running another dinghy sailing course in association with Surrey Scouts Water Activities Club. Despite difficult weather conditions several Scouts achieved the RYA Stage 1 award.

We have previously only been able to take six trainees on these courses as we can only berth three dinghies at the sailing location, Papercourt Sailing Club in Ripley. For the coming season we have the option of using three further dinghies but this means we need more helmsmen, at least until the trainees can take over. If anyone with the appropriate skills is available on Monday evenings from 18.30 between May and July we would appreciate the help. Competence is more important than paper qualifications and we could arrange permit assessment if that is relevant. Please contact David Bryan, 01276 856865, davidjbryan@aol.com
