On Monday 9^th June 2008 it was confirmed by the Scout Association that Peter Duncan, the volunteer Chief Scout will visit Scoutabout 2008.

 

Scoutabout 2008 is a tri-annual event which will see the culmination of 18 months preparation by volunteer Leaders bring together over 200 activities for 3,500 Scouts and Guides from across Surrey.

 

The weekend activity camp will be held at the South of England Showground, Ardingly, West Sussex over the weekend of 20^th to 22^nd June 2008.

 

Peter Duncan said ‘Scouting and Guiding can only happen when there are enough volunteer leaders to support it. Children are the future, and there is a unique joy in helping them discover talents they never knew they had. I believed that when I was working on Blue Peter and I believe it now. This event is run by over 1000 volunteer Leaders and I look forward to meeting as many as I can’.

 

Jonathan How, Chairman of the Scoutabout 2008 Organising Committee said ‘This is great news, we look forward to welcoming the Chief Scout to Scoutabout. I’m sure he will have a great time and join in many of the activities available to our Scouts and Guides’.
