With official charity status being granted (Registered Charity Number 1113830) the campaign to save Walton Firs can finally get on its way and so far over £56,000 has been raised towards the £800,000 target.
However with only two years to raise this money The Walton Firs Foundation needs your help NOW if we are to save the campsite! We need every group in the county to arrange a fundraising event, contact all their old scouting contacts to tell them what is happening and to start sending donations in NOW. The quicker the money comes in the quicker we can claim the gift aid back and start
earning interest. There are three ways to donate.
1. Send a cheque to “Walton Firs Foundation” (see http://www.waltonfirs.co.uk/page-Contact.html for contact details)
2. Visit the website www.waltonfirs.co.uk and donate online, or
3. Give your fundraising proceeds to your district commissioner so that they can pass them on. This is because as an added incentive Walton Firs will give each district that raises £20,000 founder member status which means that all the groups in that district will enjoy a 10% reduction in camp fees on a permanent basis and a life membership.
A gift aid form can be downloaded from the website and please complete this and send it with any offline donations. Remember that every penny counts and anyone who donates £20 will become “A friend of Walton Firs” with their name on the website.
Walton Firs is a great resource for young people in Surrey and beyond so please help NOW!
Don’t forget to look at the website to add your memories, see what the running total is, who’s donated and what events are coming up. If you have any questions or would like us to put your event on the website please contact Alison Cox on pr@waltonfirs.co.uk
